Remission
I once had a client who had previously entered into a very poor partnership with a different firm who had failed to submit the client’s tax reports and failed to help them remit proper payroll tax payments for a whole year.
The client came to my team with the delinquency notice desperate for help. The penalties and interest had already exceeded $200,000 and was still growing every day.
Fortunately, under a First Time Abatement provision we were able to appeal to the governing body on his behalf through a series of petitions and help him receive full forgiveness. Every penny being assessed for penalties and interest was wiped away. Of course they still did their part by paying the full tax and submitting each of the past due tax reports, but they were more than willing to fulfill these conditions.
When we received the news we were so happy and relieved. We were so thankful for this merciful provision.
Our Father in Heaven, because of His love for each of us, has given us a provision through the merciful atonement of Jesus Christ that grants us a full remission of our sins as long as we meet His covenantal conditions. And this is not a First Time Abatement scenario. It is an Every Time Abatement scenario for us.
And because the worth of our souls is great to Him, our Savior and Redeemer volunteered to pay the price, endure the pain, forgive our debt, and in a holy act of divine charity and grace, abate our penalties and interest - that we might not suffer if we would repent. That we may cleansed from the sins of our generation.
For all this, I am eternally grateful. ☺️ 🥲
